LVA-Cayuga County, Inc. helps adult learners Basic Literacy or English as a Second Language to help individuals become independent readers, writers, and speakers of English.
Whether its to get a better job, read to their children, improve reading abilities, or develop conversational English, our student-centered learning approach will help students achieve their goals.
Basic Literacy
For adults 18 years of age and older who desire to increase their reading skills, Literacy Volunteers of Cayuga County provides free, one-to-one, confidential tutoring. Students are matched with a trained volunteer tutor. They work together to define the student's goals and design lesson plans that will help students accomplish their objectives.
English as a Second Language
This program is for adults who are new speakers of English and are interested in improving their conversational speaking and listening skills. Literacy Volunteers-Cayuga County provides free, one-to-one tutoring. Students are matched with a trained volunteer tutor. They work together to define the student's goals and design lesson plans that will help students accomplish their objectives.
