What is CA$H for Cayuga County?
CA$H stands for Creating Assets, Savings and Hope. Volunteers help low to moderate income households build stronger financial futures by preparing Federal and NYS tax returns FREE OF CHARGE.

What is the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)?
The EITC is for low to moderate income wage earners. Get extra money for utility bills, clothes, rent, or get caught up on child support, back taxes or student loans. You must file a tax return to claim it. Filers who participated in the CA$H program in 2009 claimed EITC payments ranging from $438 to $4,824. We can also amend your tax returns for the previous three years to claim the EITC.

Who is eligible for the CA$H for Cayuga County program?
You must have worked in 2009 and had income of less than:
  • $30,000 if single with no dependents
  • $49,000 if single with one or more dependents
  • $49,000 if married with zero or more dependents

    Who qualifies for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)?
    You must have worked in 2009 and had income of less than:
  • $43,279 ($48,279 if married filing jointly), with THREE OR MORE qualifying children
  • $40,295 ($45,295 if married filing jointly), with TWO OR MORE qualifying children
  • $35,463 ($40,463 if married filing jointly), with ONE OR MORE qualifying children
  • $13,440 ($18,440 if married filing jointly), with no qualifying child and between the ages of 25 and 65
